Skin Scare

Honestly, I have never bought any skin whitening creams, soaps, and other such things. I've always been content with my complexion, and I'm happy enough having smooth skin, regardless of color. Sure, I use lotion, cold cream, etc., but I've never been one to be on the lookout for whitening products.

I couldn't be more thankful for having that kind of mindset. Had I been addicted to getting white skin, I'd be freaking out right now! Studies show that skin-whitening agents contain Hydroquinone, which if used apart from treating darkened skin and hyperpigmentation, would give major health risks. These include nail discoloration and grey-blue bumps on sun-exposed skin. Worse complications include fish odor syndrome (wherein the patient's body emits an odor similar to that of a rotting fish) and of course, skin cancer.

Healthy skin does not mean white skin. As long as it's kept smooth and nourished, we're all good to go. It's very harmful to give self-treatment, especially since we don't exactly know the contents of the things we use to treat our skin. To get the nourished glow that we all want to achieve, it's always best to consult your dermatologist.

s it true that some skin whiteners being sold in supermarkets and drugstores have poison in them? I read an online article about a chemical called hydroquinone that is used in some skin whiteners. Hydroquinone is like acid because it can burn your skin if you use it too often.

Some of the effects of hydroquinone are quite bothersome. In the United States, it is said that hydroquinone is “unsafe for use in products that left on the skin, but due to LAX ENFORCEMENT, directions for skin lightening products containing hydroquinone encourage frequent and consistent use on the skin.”

And worst of all, it can cause CANCER!

I think people have to be careful when using skin whiteners with hydroquinone. It’s just too dangerous. Read up first on references about it because the effects are serious.

It was already 11am when I woke up last Saturday, August 1. The first thing my sister told me was "ate, patay na si Cory" then I immediately sat and cried. I don't know why I reacted that way. I am not related to her in any way but I cried.

I was just 4 months old when the EDSA Revolution happened. I had no idea what was happening around me. I just knew about the whole People Power story when I was already in school. What I can remember is that I usually saw her on TV and the newspapers when she was president. That was it. I have been reading and hearing stories about her these past few days and I can't help but admire her. Although they were rich, she remained very simple. She was just a housewife but when her husband died, she was forced to comfort and lead a struggling nation.

My friends and I wanted to see her before she was buried. We went to LSGH last August 2 and waited in line for more than 2 hours. We saw her inside her coffin for just a few seconds though but it was ok. I just wanted to see her. Just one last look at the person who restored Philippine Democracy. Last August 5, the day she was buried, was declared a holiday. Unfortunately, I still had work on holidays so I wasn't able to catch one last glimpse. Most of us at work showed our support by wearing yellow shirts.

I watched the media coverage from August 1 to August 5. Seeing so many people made me realize how much she was loved by this country. So.... that's what they call "Cory Magic." Now that President Cory is in her final resting place, I hope that the unity and patriotism of the Filipinos were not buried with her. I hope that we could all continue to love our country and be proud to be Filipinos. I hope that all of us would be inspired by Cory and Ninoy.

Thank you President Cory.

You will continue to be an inspiration to this country.

I remember seeing a commercial a couple of weeks ago while I was editing Unang Hirit. It was about Ester, a Filipina who wanted to become really white for her wedding. She went to different places to have herself bleached. They then showed Ester. She finally became white... coz she died. The ad was a public announcement from the Philippine Dermatological Society.

I liked the commercial. I remember laughing loudly in the office after seeing the commercial. That's what she got for wanting to be really white without even consulting real dermatologists. I just have a question... Why do most Filipinas want to become really really white? Why is it that most Filipinos think that white is beautiful? hmmm...

The Bread Bag: Pandesal Bar

Yup! There is a Pandesal Bar in Ortigas Home Depot called the Bread Bag. After mall hopping from Greenhills to Megamall to Galleria, Vic suggested that we have a pandesal dinner.

Since I love eating pandesal, I immediately agreed.

The Bread Bag bakes their pandesal in the in-store pugon. They've got very affordable pandesal meals/sandwiches that are served with chips. They also serve coffee and hot choco, perfect pandesal partners!

What we ordered:

My order was kesong puti w/ pesto pandesal. It was really yummy. I love tomato+pesto+cheese sandwiches! Sour+salty fillings combined with the semi-sweet taste of the pandesal. SARAP! I partnered it with Barako coffee. Mmmmm.....

The place was cozy. Their washroom was clean. Their music was loud though and they didn't have wifi. I hope they'll have wifi in the near future. ;-P

Western Digital TV

How can I play my movie files on a TV without burning them on a disc? I have been asking myself this question for quite some time now. I tried buying a SAMSUNG DVD player with a USB slot but this did not work. It can read my DivX files!

So I searched and searched and then found this:

Western Digital's take on a multimedia player. It does not have networking though, unlike popcorn hour, but I don't really need that. I just need to play the stuff I have on my external USB disk on my TV set. It's really easy to use! Just connect it to a TV via RCA or HDMI then connect your disk to the device. It plays tons of codecs too! The best part is that you can select the subtitle track, no need to embed it to the video before watching. This is really a plus point to me since I like watching Asian dramas and movies. Another plus point is that it is so small. It's really portable! I can bring it whenever I travel. The best part about the WD TV is its price. It's the cheapest branded multimedia player that I have seen in the market. It's really a great buy!

If you are the type of person who has a lot of video files in your HDD and you want to watch it on TV just like me then I would really recommend getting the WD TV.

Ako Mismo

I went to the Ako Mismo Dog Tag day last June 12. I was there with my officemates. There were a lot of people from all walks of life. A lot of people = long lines everywhere!

We had fun going around the field. There were different activity booths set up by different organizations. We all had the simple 40peso dog tags. I was not able to spot the booth that was selling the 400peso dog tag (the one with the leather string).

There were also commitment walls wherein people could write what they themselves could to to make a change in the country. The wall was the real counterpart of the digital commitment wall found in the website. There were some people who did not take the wall seriously though. I saw crazy posts such as: ako mismo ang bumili ng dog tag ko, ako mismo ang magtitinda ng balut sa inyo, ako mismo cute. I didn't really find them amusing.

Our last stop was the photo booth by fotoloco. It was sponsored by jobs db. We had our souvenir photos taken before we left the place. We did not wait for the main concert to start coz we were all starving! We had dinner in Bellissimo in Tomas Morato. Well... that's another story.

Reich's Birthday

The "roadtrippers" went to Tagaytay to celebrate Reich's birthday. We had dinner in Taj of Tagaytay then coffee in Starbucks (as always).

TAJ serves Indian food. Love the ambiance. Their playlist matches the mood of the place.

Food was ok. Their servings were not that big and it was also a bit pricey. We still enjoyed trying out what they had to offer. I love their Yogurt shakes! We tried the strawberry yogurt and the rose yogurt.

(We ordered Biryani Rice, Chicken Marsala, Curry Dishes, and Yogurt drinks.)

Chocolate Banana

I love eating chocolates! When I heard that Royce has opened a store in Rockwell, I already wanted to try it ASAP. After a couple of months, I was finally able to taste it! (HAHA... yeah... MONTHS!)

I got a box of NAMA. I heard (and read) that it was one of their specialties. I decided to get the seasonal flavor. It was Banana for the month of May (I think).

YUMMY! I love the rich banana taste. I also love its very smooth texture. I also love the fact that even if it's straight out of the freezer, it's still easy to cut using the plastic thingamajig that came with it.

I now love their chocolates. I want to try the other nama variants. Next in line is the Green Tea Nama.

Pepper Lunch

After going to the MYOH event, we went to Pepper Lunch to eat... lunch! we were all famished coz it was already 3pm. Everyone had Beef Pepper Rice except for me. I had the Curry Beef Pepper Rice coz I love Japanese curry.

I like eating in Pepper Lunch coz I feel like I'm cooking my own concoction. It's served in a sizzling plate. You'd have to turn the beef so that both sides would cook. After that, you have to mix everything coz there's a sauce in the middle of the rice that gives flavor to everything (I think.. haha). Then you could add some sweet sauce or garlic sauce (or a combination of the two) to add more flavor to your meal. It's really yummy!

The bad side of eating in Pepper Lunch is carbo overloading... I finished all the rice!!! It's too good to leave half of it untouched.

Make Your Own Havaianas 2009

I went to the 4th “make your own havaianas” event last May 29. This is the second year that the event was held in the Rockwell tent. There was a really long line outside the tent. After more or less 2 hours, we were able to get inside the tent. It was (cold and) crazy inside! There were a lot of people and more lines! There was a line for assembling of the strap, sole, and pins. There was another line for embellishments. The last line was for payments.

I liked the layout of the place. In the center, there were roulettes of different colors of straps and soles. The pins and embellishments were displayed under the roulettes. There were also round tables which were used to fill out the MYOH forms. In the center of the ceiling there was a flip-flop chandelier and on the sides were artsy photos of havaianas.

It took me more than 10 minutes to decide on my color combination. My first choice was brown (strap) and olive green (sole). I wanted to put a tarsier on the strap. When I was ready to have my pair assembled, the girl who assisted me said that they already ran out of olive green soles for my size. I then went for my second choice which was black (strap) and yellow (sole). I got a vintage TV pin (since I’m a video editor) and a Noypi pin (proud to be Pinoy!) attached on my left slipper. I had 2 crystals attached to my right slipper. I love the way they packed the pair! It was not longer placed in a paper bag. They put it in a recyclable black bag which had a red rubber havaianas bag tag attached to it. Lovely!

After paying for our pairs, we had our photowall pictures taken.

That's what I felt when I saw a Balenciaga Motorcycle bag. It does not look too girly. It has an attitude!

The thing is, a brand new bag is way over my budget. So I searched one on the net.

When I saw one on an auction site, I watched the item. Luckily, with the help of my mom and my shiftmates, I won the auction!

I got myself a pre-owned 2002 Balenciaga Black Suede Multi-Zip First.

I love it to bits! It's now one of my prized possessions. HAHA

At first, I thought it was so complicated because it had all these applications. Now, I enjoy using the site! Playing Wii

Santa gave us the Nintendo Wii last Christmas. We all love it! The games are very interactive. I think that makes the Wii very addicting.

What's good about the Wii is that most of its games involve using the whole body. It's like playing and exercising at the same time! Here are my favorite Wii games as of now:

Wii Sport

I personally love playing tennis. I feel like I'm really playing it in a tennis court. Other games in this disc include bowling, boxing, baseball, and golf.

Dancing with the Stars

This game is based on the TV show of the same title. It's like Dance Revolution but it involves hand/arm movements. You need to hold on to the Wii-mote and nunchuck. It has a tutorial so that you could master all the moves first before playing the main game. I love the mashed potato dance step!

Rock Band

We bought a Wii Band set last week. I didn't know it was super fun and very addicting! I like playing the drummer or the vocalist. I just can't master the guitar!!! Our current games for this set are Rock Band 2 and High School Musical. LSS!!! (It's hard to believe... That I couldn't see... You were always there beside me.....) We are trying to get more games for this!

Wii Fit

This game is helping me lose some weight. It needs a Wii Balance Board for it to work. It has a weight monitor and 4 training categories (yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance games). I hate the balance games. I love doing the 10-minute Super Hula Hoop and the Rhythm Boxing which are both under aerobics.

I'm addicted to watching dramas. It's my way of escaping reality. When watching a drama, you would know if something would go wrong, you can cheat by taking a peek at what will happen next and if you don't like what's going to happen, you can ditch it and start watching a different show.

I feel like you guys don't know me anymore and I don't know you guys anymore too. Do you think I love that feeling? As much as I would like to always be with you guys, I can't. I have so many responsibilities and obligations in life. Do you know how much I care about everything around me? I don't like people getting hurt. I hate seeing people suffer. As much as I would like to think that my being single is a choice, there are times when I wonder if there is something wrong with me. Do you have to rub it in? I know you are heart broken. Many people in the world experience that. Yes, I haven't but I've heard of stories from people whose hearts have been broken. I have an idea of how you are feeling right now. You feel low. Mahirap but there's no harm in trying naman eh. The truth is hindi ka kawawa kung maging heart broken ka man. You are so lucky. I actually envy you! Hindi ko sinasabing maganda maging heart broken pero look at the bright side. You felt loved. You have loved. Sabi nga diba "it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." That's why you are lucky!

6. Wonder why my barkada is called HEPS? Faith thought about it when we were having lunch in our tambayan in high school. It's called HEPS because a heptagon has 7 sides. Go figure. haha

9. I have been roaming this world for more than 23 years and not once have I ever had a boyfriend. My mom thinks there is something wrong with me.

16. I'd love to travel... A LOT! If only it didn't cost much.

17. Most of the time I am frugal. But there are days when I feel like spending. When I have a craving for food, I'd look for it and eat it. Whenever I want something, I'd save up for it and eventually buy it. I don't like depriving myself. I only live once. But I'm really frugal... most of the time. My mom says I might have been Chinese in my past life. I have a book of accounting in my head.

Do not underestimate the relevance of blogs.

Last December 26, 2008, the 56 year old father and 14 year old brother of blogger Bambee dela Paz wasbeaten up by Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur.

Everyone, if you have a blog, a plurk, or whatever online journal or micro-journal, please repost this incident.

It's better to get it straight as it is before it gets fabricated or altered by those under higher power.

This is a matter of proving that justice still exists in our system. PLEASE REPOST.

Leaders like this do not deserve the support of their people who gave them their position. Disturbing and improper acts, especially by a politician who serves our country and implements laws, must not be tolerated.

The world has gone crazy.

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life, and I have never seen anything like this. NOTHING. This is hard to comprehend. And it happened to my own father and my own brother too. Right in front of my eyes.

My brother and I were playing golf at the South Course of Valley. We were on the 3rd hole, and we see two golf carts going past us, overtaking our flight, and setting up to tee off on the next hole. My dad goes up to them and asks them why they would do that, why they would overtake us without even asking for our permission. Golf etiquette 101. One of the guys says that they're with the flight in front of us. (So what? That doesn't give them the right to just pass us WITHOUT asking.) So, we go to the 5th hole. The flight behind us catches up with us, and asks us what caused the hold up. We said that this flight just slipped in front of our flight. So we complained to the marshall. We play the 5th hole and walk towards the next hole, where there is a teehouse, and both the flights in front of us were there, talking with the marshall. The mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur talks with my dad. Things get heated up. Voices were raised. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head..."Sorry na po, sorry na po...tama na...tama na po..." With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

I lash out, but my dad held me back. I was screaming my lungs out, shouting to this mayor, telling him about what he had done. I said:"Nakakahiya kayo. Singkwenta'y sais anyos ang tatay ko. And kapatid ko kakatorse anyos. Anong ilalaban nila sayo?"

The mayor looks at my brother, point to his face, and says, "Tatandaan kita!" And he tells me that my brother has a bad attitude and that I need to watch him. WHAT THE HELL?! So, my brother's bad for defending his father?!

We leave. We walk to the clubhouse to file a complaint. My brother asks for a doctor. My dad could barely walk. Their group comes to the clubhouse, sees my brother. Once again my brother pleads, says sorry, and is crying. He was CRYING, for crissakes. But no. The relentless mayor still punches him in the face, and then sees my dad and goes after my dad again. Him and his friend pull my dad to the ground, pulls at his feet, and steps on him like he's dirt. I run to him and try to hold him back, holding him back by his shirt, while this other guy and this girl tries to stop me. She tells me to just stop it. I scream in her face "they're beating my father up and you want me to stop?!" I pull at his shirt--I don't let go. All I can see was my dad being trampled on. I didn't even see my brother getting beat up.

People pull them away. I get my dad, and I saw my brother. His right ear was bleeding. I freaked out. I told the receptionists to bring my brother to the clinic. I pull my dad away. People were separating us.

My mom and my older brother come. I tell her Bino's right ear is bleeding. They both look like they could kill. My dad holds my brother off, I hold off my mom. When I finally got my mom under control, my older brother gets away and I hold him off. Two of the mayor's bodyguards pull out guns. I embraced my brother from the back, just holding him back, crying. The receptionists came to us, crying, hugging me, my dad, and my mom, whispering to us to just leave. "Maam, umalis na po kayo, may mga baril sila...Maam...umalis na po kayo please..."

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn't do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

Sounds like something out of a movie, doesn't it? But this is what happened. TODAY. The day after Christmas. To my family. And all I ask for is JUSTICE. The people at Valley Golf did not seem to want to help us. None of the security guards even tried to stop the fight. Right in the clubhouse. I came back after the fight was over and talked to the receptionists. They say they did not see anything. The general manager of Valley Golf would not give us the names of the men who made my brother's ear bleed. It took him an hour. Maybe even more than that. He seemed to not want to help us. Because, we were against the SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRARIAN REFORM and the MAYOR OF MASIU CITY, LANAO DEL SUR. They were all scared.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

I watched 100 with Vic, my officemate, in G4 last Sunday.

100 is an Indie Film directed by Chris Martinez. It stars Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo, Tessie Tomas with TJ Trinidad, Ryann Eigenmann, Simon Ibarra, and Cecile Paz.

The movie is about Joyce (Mylene Dizon), a woman who lived her life to the fullest. She learned that she had cancer so she started to write the things she had to do before she dies on post-its. At first, she only told her best friend about her illness. She did not want people to worry about her. She was a very independent woman. She did not let her illness hinder her from doing the things she wanted.

I kind of envy the personality of Mylene Dizon in the movie. She was very brave. She accepted that she was dying. She even prepared her own funeral! Her character was also lucky because she had a very wonderful bestfriend who was willing to do anything and everything for her just to make her happy.

I loved the scene wherein Mylene and Eugene went to Malate, 'smoked leaves,' went to a comedy bar, and sang on stage. It was hilarious but it also made me cry at the same time. I also liked the skinny dipping in Bolinao scene. Seeing that scene made me feel their feeling of being free (did that make sense? haha).

I also noticed that the film had very nice shots. I also liked the color and lighting. The parts shot in Hong Kong were obviously filmed using a handycam. It actually added to the realness of the film. It was as if Mylene and Eugene were documenting their trip through a handycam.

100 has already joined international film festivals. It was also given an A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

I really recommend this movie. I'll get a DVD of this once it becomes available in the market. I would love to watch it over and over again.

This is not about the famous dessert in the Philippines.

Last November 4, I went to my grandma's birthday celebration. After that, I went to their house in New Manila. I saw my grandfather's old camera. It was an Argus Super Seventy-five. I borrowed it coz I wanted to try the "through-the-viewfinder" photography that kuya Neall was talking about. I don't have any decent shots yet since I am having a hard time making a decent barrel.

Last November 7, I went to Clark with mama and tito. We shopped in the duty-free stores there. We got to buy lots of food! Chips, candies, chocolates, etc. My fave find was the Vanilla Coke. I really love its taste! I missed it so much coz its been gone for quite a while here in Manila. Another cute find were the HSM lollipops. Sweet! I wanna go back to shop for some more food. hahaha!

I finally got my 2009 planner last Nov 12 from Starbucks TM. I went there with Gina and Dan during our break. We had coffee and snacks and a long chat. The planner was ok. Not as spectacular as the 2007 and 2008 planners though. It came with a silver Starbucks pen. I got the red one. I already wrote my name inside. I was so excited to write on it!

My mom and I went to the UP-Ayala Techno Hub last Nov 13 to try out FlapJacks. We also wanted to check out the place. It's pretty nice. It looks like it will cater to the A,B,&C crowd. Yellow Cab, FlapJacks, and The Old Spaghetti House are already open. Others stalls that will open soon are Red Kimono, Gerry's Grill, Mercury Drug, Timezone, Switch (Apple Store), Figaro, Razon's, National Bookstore, Starbucks, and Bench Fix. I'm so excited! I hope all the stalls will be open before the year ends. The UP-Ayala Techno Hub is along Commonwealth ave. near Philcoa.

I treated my mom lunch in FlapJacks. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and she had the Arroz-ala-Cubana. We had French Toast for dessert. The waiter said that their best seller is the Chicken Fried Steak that's why I gave it a try. I did not actually like it that much. It was ok. Maybe I'm not a chicken steak person. I liked their Arroz-ala-Cubana though. I also liked the French Toast. I just wish they did not put too much butter on it. They had a very limited selection in their menu. I guess it's because they just opened.

Yun lang! haha! Malapit na mag-Christmas!

Peppermint Mocha

Ever since Starbucks introduced their Peppermint Mocha Holiday drink, I fell in love with in. I get excited whenever the red cups season start since I knew that my favorite drink will be available again (and I'll be collecting stickers for their planner... hahaha).

Well... Today was the start of the red cup season so before heading home, my sister decided to drop by the Starbucks near our place to take a look at the new planner and grab a drink. The planner looked ok. It's just like their very first planner minus the coupons. After taking a look at the planner I decided to order my usual drink. One Iced Peppermint Mocha non-fat. Alas! As I looked at the featured holiday drinks, my favorite was nowhere to be found! The barista told me that they did not have that drink anymore. She said that I could add mint to my order instead. the thing is, they will just add mint syrup to my drink. There won't be red peppermint sprinkles on it. My sister and I protested! We said that it really tasted good. It was our favorite drink! The girl explained that in their analysis last year, it was the least ordered drink. My heart was crushed! Super bitin! I was so excited to get my peppermint mocha fix today! Starbucks should fix this!

The holiday season will be so different without my Peppermint Mocha! (exage eh noh? hahaha)

WHEN IT MATTERS

Andy Grey of Champions League broadcasting fame had a word for it: Rapture. Such was what Ateneo fans felt when the final buzzer sounded last night on a strong-armed sweep by the Blue Eagles over the hapless Green Archers. Six bittersweet years of waiting since 2002 for that elusive crown that had caused many a heartbreak in Loyola Heights.

But for some people, primarily from the green side of things, it was literally more bitter. I woke up this morning feeling great after such a good win by Ateneo so imagine the crap that hit me when I opened up the newspaper and saw Franz Pumaren talking shit about how Ateneo had won and how it was the “worst officiating in the Finals” that he had seen. Oh common. Add to that jab was the fact that La Salle didn’t even want to come out to claim their runners-up trophy after that game. And why? It beats me. Losing isn’t necessarily bad, and let me tell you why.

I never grew up in the glory years of the Blue Eagles. Not in the 1960s and 70s with the Steve Watsons, Chito Afables, Ricky Palous and other Hall of Famers. Not in the sweet double triumph of the 1980s with Danny Francisco, Jun Reyes, Olsen Racela and their band of merry cohorts. Not even with the resurgence in the 2000s with that homegrown crew of Enrico, Wesley and Larry that brought the Blue and White squarely into the limelight again, a storybook rise to the top that brought media exposure, thousands of fangirls (and fanboys, of course) and the rabid, camp-out-24hours-before-Ticketnet-opens types that are so prevalent today.

Nope. I started watching basketball in the so-called Dark Ages of Ateneo Basketball, back in the early to mid-90s when getting to the Final Four was as far away as a J.D. degree (oh yeahboy!) and when one can stretch out on the ringside seats in the Blue Eagle Gym because no one was watching. Oh yes, that was when I, an impressionable young grade schooler who thought that Ateneo was invincible and who sang “Blue Eagle the King” everyday, got my comeuppance. When boyhood idols like Richie Ticzon, Vince Hizon, Junie Rentosa, John “Big Boy” Verayo, the Sison twins, and Sandy Arespacochaga were being absolutely creamed by Adamson (sige, may EJ Feihl at Kenneth Duremdes eh), UP, NU, UST and horror of horrors, La Salle, one could not really feel that Blue Eagle was the King.

But at least, those years, and the subsequent ones taught me something about cheering for Ateneo that maybe the young ones today have missed: losing builds grace. With every ignominous 2-7 record or double-digit bashing by La Salle, you learn to appreciate every precarious lead and every hard-fought (and I mean fought) win as bonuses. That’s why in a 1996 win over La Salle where Ateneo absolutely torched the Archers for 17 triples, I felt like it was Christmas, my birthday and winning the Lotto all in one. A win over the powerhouse La Salle team, and a twenty-plus point margin at that, was as rare as a solar eclipse. Wins are happy moments, as are expected, where a team builds confidence and gets its spirits lifted by the sweet touch of victory. But losses? Man, those are the times when you dig deep and see what you’re made of.

In the 2001 Finals, up high in the General Admission section, watching Enrico Villanueva practicing post-up moves 2 hours before tip-off, I thought that it was time for Ateneo to be rewarded after a long spell in the desert of futility. But that was not our year. Although I do not really cry, I felt all those years weigh on my shoulders as I saw the Green side celebrate their fourth straight title. But I did what every Atenean worth his salt did that time, hold my head up high, applaud the terrific La Salle team with a graduating Ren-Ren Ritualo for a great victory and consoled myself with the fact that win or lose, it’s still Ateneo I choose. The next year was different, and that was great, but that’s not the point. The sweet wasn’t as sweet without the sour.

And it’s not even exclusively against La Salle. In 2003, against FEU, Ateneo lost to the superior inside play of Arwind Santos and company. It was the last year of Ateneo icons Rich and Wes, but what the hell, it wasn’t like I was expecting a back-to-back right? In 2006, the heartbreak closest to my heart, I saw that inspired team of JC, Macky and Doug lose a 5 point lead in the last minute to lose to UST. Later that night, sitting in the traditional Mass in the Church of the Gesu, my friend Miggy echoed my feelings when he said “Pare, parati nalang ganito, bakit ganon?” I had no answer, but it was for sure a frustration that we assuaged by saying that “win or lose, it’s the school we choose.”

But the thing is, the aforementioned phrase isn’t even, as some people claim, a convenient mantra for losers (after all, “win” is one of the choices, if not the primary one). It is rather a statement of conviction by those blue to the core that Ateneo will always stand, as a team, as a community and as an ideal no matter what adversity it faces. I still feel the same about Ateneo and the beautiful game of basketball the same way even if the season ends via a two game sweep of the bitterest of our rivals (and I mean “bitter”) capping a 15-1 season OR a missed trip to the Final Four because of a 32-point thrashing at the hands of the NU Bulldogs. Ateneo coaches and players might grumble about the officiating but how can you really control refereeing (who chose NABRO by the way?).

But in the end, it will always conclude with a kudos to the victors, a submission that despite all the imperfections in the way the game was called, we will always clap for the winners as they sing their alma mater song. We will always come out to collect the runners up trophy as a testament to our own efforts and the superiority of the winning side. It is at that time when character is built, plans are redrawn and experience becomes truly an experience.

So despite Coach Pumaren’s assertion that they win “when it matters,” the glaring, incontrovertible and painful fact is that, far worse, they do not know how to lose with grace, when it should truly matter: Such a letdown given their incredible feat last year when they won it all and also this year when they put up a tremendous run behind JV Casio (my favorite La Salle player of all time) and such a shame to come from the multi-titled, future Hall of Fame lips of Franz Pumaren. Perhaps now is a good time as ever to realize that sour grapes make sour wine and that 6 or something championship rings do not necessarily breed basketball royalty with appropriate manners.

As such, last night in the midst of a raucous Blue and White celebration in the Big Dome, not only was a champion made, but a champion was un-made in the eyes of many. Good thing I belong to the former.

A Bonfire Anecdote

oh, the perks of watching a lot of tv shows and movies. read the dialogues lang if you're tamad.

last night at the bonfire, i had an encounter with a guy when my brother was in line to get autographs. my brother poj, a grade schooler, had no phone and no one with him when he was in line. when my sister and i saw our cousin hannah with her friends and her chaperon, we told our brother to stay with our cousin so that he'd have someone with him. my sister and i went back to our business, knowing that my brother's safe na. i got gatorade for my thirsty sister while my sister got 2 cans of beer for alcoholic little me.

ate phoebe left her spare phone with poj. poj then called my sister and he was crying. apparently, some guy shouted at him for line-cutting and kicked him out of the line. i felt that my brother needed help so my sister and i went back to him to ask who the guy was. it was a college student right behind where my brother originally was. he wore a white psyche shirt and looked like a dead kid. i got surprised to see he was with his girlfriend. siguro pareho silang walang friends. ewan.

Hung out with Vic at the roof deck after editing SAKSI. We tried out night photography. Vic used Matet's 450D and I used my pimped (it has CHDK installed.. hehehe) S3IS. I used my mini tripod in order to take 3 shots of different exposures (AE bracket).

I used Photomatix to create the HDRs.

My smart cellphone got stolen in the MRT this afternoon. It was a Sony Ericsson P1i. The first time I saw that phone on the internet, I fell in love with it. Its features were perfect for me. It's equipped with 3G, wifi, and a 3.2MP cam. I saved up for that phone (which meant not going out with friends and not eating that much in the office). After a couple of months I was able to purchase it! I just feel bad coz it did not even last a year.

This is the 2nd time a phone of mine got stolen. The first was 5 years ago. I hate myself coz I always think that every human being is good. Which is, of course, not true.

Argh!!! I hate myself. I hate riding the MRT from the AYALA station going north!!! I hate rush hour!!!

Ayaw sa mabait - boring daw, gusto ng bad boy/pilya pero kapag pinaiyak ka, tatanungin ka bakit ang sama mo at bakit mo nagawa yun! Adik ka ba?! Ayaw sa cute, ayaw din naman sa panget. Opo, eto yung ang mundo e gumagalaw lang sa libro at ballpen kung estudyante ka o kaya naman sa computer at files kung office staff ka. Yung tipong aalis ng bahay ng alas 6 o alas 7 ng umaga at uuwi ng bahay ng 6 hanggang alas 8 ng gabi [baligtad naman para sa mga nag tratrabaho sa call center].. Sabay tulog na.. Kapag Sabado masaya na sila sa Internet (o sa Multiply), sa pagkain na niluluto ni mama at sa Linggo naman sisimba at maghahanda na ng kelangan para sa lunes hanggang byernes.. Pssssst.. Pause for awhile..

7. FRIENDSHIP THEORY
Ano naman ito? Eto yung ang buhay ay kay bestfriend o kaya kay special friend na hindi masasabi-sabi sa friendship nya sa loob ng kanilang mahabang panahon na pagsasama dahil baka daw maapektuhan ang pakikipagkaibigan at iwasan sya.. Yung tipong pag may kasama si friendship na iba, nagseselos na wala naman sa lugar, pero syempre wag pahalata, kunyari happy sya for friendship.. Aba! Oi lakasan mo ang loob at baka mamaya forever mong pagsisihan yan kaw rin. Minsan pa naman pareho kayong naghihintayan.. Hmmp!

6. BORN-TO-BE-ONE(AUTISTIC)
Eto yung nasa palad na ang pagiging single daw.. Walang reasons.. Basta lang nabuhay sya sa mundo na mag-isa at feeling nya mamatay sya sa mundo ng mag-isa.. Kesyo magmamadre o magpapari na lang.. Asa kang tatanggapin ka pa noh!

5. WRONG PLACE
May nakaranas na ba nito? Yung pakiramdam mo nasa ibang mundo ka. Yung ang nakakaharap mo e yung mga hindi mo gusto, yung mga hindi mo hinahanap. Alam mo yun? Halimbawa nasa ibang bansa ka, pero ang hinahanap mo e yung amoy ng nasa sariling bayan mo. O kaya naman e nasa sarili mong bayan ka, nasa normal na lipunan, pero ikaw ang abnormal at hindi mo kayang sabihin na abnormal din ang hanap mo kung ayaw mong ibitin ka nila ng patiwarik.

Eto yung mga tao na sinasabi na "hindi pa ako ready e, bata pa kasi ako" o kaya naman "hindi pa ako handa sa panahong ito, wala pa ako kayang ipagmalaki.." Yes meron pong ganyan.. I just finished watching season 1 of Gossip Girl. I love the series. I love watching their "scandalous" lives and their lovely clothes.

Of all the girls, I liked the character of ......... Serena. Haha.. I know, what a surprise. I just like her character's humility. She is rich and pretty but she does not seem to know it. She can be friends with all of Upper East Side's elite but she still managed to have a semi-serious relationship with Dan.

Little Jenny is one of my least favorite of them all. She was too materialistic and pretentious. I did not like the fact that she valued her "friends" (who I can't really call friends) more than her family. For me, family should always come first. Her friends weren't even really friends since they did not really know who Jenny was. She had to pretend to be someone she isn't just so they could "accept" her in their circle.

As for the guys, at first I really liked Dan coz he always seemed so sensible, and wise, and cute at the same time. Nate looked cute too but he seemed like an airhead. In the latter part of the series though, I kinda like Nate more coz he showed that he was down-to-earth. He liked Vanessa, who was not as pretty and as rich as the girls in his "world." He also seemed more sensible than Dan in the latter part. In the last 2 episodes, I hated Dan coz I could not understand his mood swings. I the finale, Nate and Serena looked like they were meant for each other.

I'm sooo curious. Will it be Nate and Serena? Dan and Vanessa? Blaire and Marketing guy? Chuck and the assistant? What will happen to Jenny and her internship with Mrs. Waldorf?

Can't wait for season 2!

I decided to setup my P1i as a bluetooth modem for my MacBook so that if ever I need to surf the web and there is no wifi connection available, I could surf via Smart 3G for only P10 for every 30mins. Cheap and convenient. This is the speed that I got:

Now I want to compare it to my wifi connection at home.

I just got back from BORA... I came there with my aunt's family. I shared a room with my cousin. I had fun. I'm really a beach lover so... Anyway, Boracay is getting worse! It stinks and the beach is full of trash. It is really alarming. If nothing is done about it, pretty soon, no one will go there anymore. Calling the agencies involved and the tourists as well, please do your share. Don't trash the beaches!

Havaianas had its make your own event again in Rockwell. My mom, sister, and brother came. I asked them to make me one. Gave them instructions on what to do and....

I like it! It's really personalized!

I watched IRON MAN with my office-mate YNEZ in TRINOMA.. I liked the movie although my heart kept beating fast the whole time. For me, it was a suspense sci fi flick... or maybe it was just the coffee.. hahaha.. Watch the movie. I'm not fond of superhero/comic/marvel stuff but I liked the movie so... there..

Ooooh.. I haven't blogged for a really long time... I have replaced my 8gb iPod nano with an 8gb iPod touch. It is a very interesting gadget. It can hold a couple of videos, songs, games, useful software, and of course, it has wifi, mail, and safari. It keeps me busy when I have nothing else to do wherever I go.

We also said goodbye to the blue Optra. We now have a cute vios. I'd love to bond with it just like the Optra. hahaha... labo!

I, together with other soap opera watching Filipinos, said goodbye to Marimar. I even attended her "wedding reception." hahaha.. Soon, the Philippines will say hello to Dyesebel and hopefully, they would embrace her story as well.

I love the new Sunsilk ads... The "life can't wait" ones. They featured Marilyn, Madonna, and Shakira in the international tvc. Heart, Maja, and Marian are in the local version of the ad.

I loved the effect they used so I decided to make my own version of it. I did this from 1am to 5am... VANITY strikes once again!

Oh yeah! I already got my diploma... Now I'm a certified college graduate with a degree in BS Communications Technology Management!

Obviously, I have been playing with photoshop these past few days... I don't want to get rusty... haha...

It's a super thin MacBook, barely an inch. It costs approximately Php 80,000. Pretty expensive for its specs but I think it's the design that is being paid for.

Obviously, the holiday season has been really hectic. I had to go shopping for gifts and go to work. The only break I had was Dec. 25. Geez... but it was fun and challenging.

I'm on graveyard duty now. 11pm to 8am. And so my day starts in the evening. I'm now a nocturnal being... hahaha.

It's Christmas Time Once Again

I can now feel that Christmas is fast approaching. Why? Coz I now have the Starbucks 2008 planner!!! I worked hard to complete the required stickers. After 24 cups I got a planner!!! Snaps for me!

Completing the stickers was no joke. I had to persuade people to go to Starbucks with me. It also cost me a bit. But it was fun. I have to admit that I enjoyed collecting stickers and being able to get my hands on the planner was priceless. OK. OA! It felt like I was receiving a reward! ;-)

After getting the planner, I stayed up all night just to be able to "sync" it with iCal and my old planner. CAREER!!! hahaha

Geez... In a couple of weeks it will be Christmas. I haven't bought any gifts yet! My oh my... I'll be panic buying Christmas gifts one of these days. Oh my... I'm a mess!!!

Augh! My sched this month is 7am-4pm. I like it since I feel like I'm a human being once again but then 7am is just plain early! I'm not really complaining. I like what I'm doing! ;-)

Have you seen the latest Coke Commercial here in the Philippines? The one wherein the dad visited his daughter who lives with her mom.

The ad was about a broken family, situation that most of us are probably familiar with by now. It's a given. There are a lot of broken families in the Philippines though we choose to keep mum about it. The concept of the ad was very different from other ads. Most commercials sell products by showing a perfect family having fun with the product being sold. The Coke commercial showed a broken family that got together on Christmas day. The mom invited the dad to have lunch with them but the dad was hesitant. The daughter then tried to persuade him more. The mom then told the dad and told him he could join with them coz he was no stranger. In the end they showed the mom, daughter, and dad eating lunch on Christmas day. I love it!!!

Leopard is truly worth the wait. I don't care if I waited 9 months to replace my iBook (9 months? hahaha... its as if i gave birth to a laptop!) I am loving every single bit of my macbook and the great software it came with.Anyway.. enough of that... hahaha...

I've got nothing more to say. Work? Well it's still the same. I get to do more now like revise edited stuff, rescore, and edit Quick Turn Around (QTA) material. I have done 1 ep of Ful Haus and 1 ep of BFV.

I now have my swipe ID and my cool company ID. I love it! I'm enjoying what I'm doing now. I just wish I could get 2 days off. Oh well, 5 months to go!

New Job, New Workplace, New People

I officially started in GMA Network last Tuesday. We had this day long orientation. After that, I went to Post Prod to ask my sched. I'll be working Mondays to Saturdays from 3pm to 12am until the end of November. I've got work even on holidays so I won't be seeing a lot of people that much anymore. When I become a regular (in 6 months time, hopefully), that's when I'll be entitled to 2 days off a week. For now, Sunday is the only day of the week that I can rest. Oh well, wish me luck!

So far, work is fun. The people are friendly and funny. There is no dress code though the workplace is freezing so wearing a jacket is a must. I am the youngest in the group. haha! But I think I can do what they can.

Apple will be releasing Leopard on the 26th!!! I hope that by the time I buy my MacBook (that's on November), Leopard is the OS bundled with it. I waited for this OS for almost a year!!! Yey Apple!!!

Today was unlike any other birthday of mine. There were no gifts to open, no cake with a candle, no noodles to eat. I'm not used to not celebrating it with my family. Well, I think I better get used to it. I'm too old to celebrate I guess.

Saw this in Miggy's multiply. It was written by someone from La Salle. I'm not sure where he got it though.

Please stop embarrassing the Green Community. We won the game. Let us bask in the glory of the win. We deserve that.

But with that "intelligent" attempt to put the opponent down with a "well-executed attack", we are simply bringing more criticism to De La Salle.

It was an interesting piece of information, that's a given. Many of us probably believed it could finally put an end to the "stereotyping" Lasallians have been up against since time began. But folks, information like that is tricky. Especially when we use it as ammo to shoot down an opponent.

When I saw that banner raised up tonight, all I could think was, "I hope this is backed up. I hope this info is ironclad. Para walang masabi hindi lang ang Ateneo kundi pati ang ibang universities." I feared that though the shot was heard LOUD, we were only loaded with but a noisy blank bullet.

I would never want anybody (not just Ateneans) to think we simply found some statistics that happened to work to our favor, had them printed out on a giagantic tarpaulin banner, and expected that no one would look it up and RESEARCH the information's origins and bases. So I did precisely that.

Unfortunately, we may have worked against ourselves tonight, my dear Lasalle brothers.

The THES-QS Rankings is, ultimately, a guide for prospective students around the world in considering universities: "Rankings can assist your decision-making process if used properly, but they must be FULLY UNDERSTOOD, or they could lead you to miss the very institution that is right for you."

It is definitely NOT for bragging rights, because the statistics they collated have absolutely NOTHING to do with how academically adept its students are (it doesn't prove one's students and alumni smarter than the other's, so to speak).

"It is natural to approach any university ranking on the basis that it genuinely reflects the RELATIVE strengths of the institutions covered. But, it is vital to remember that all rankings select their own methodology and individual evaluation criteria on which to base the ranking. It is recommended that you are clear about what is important to you at your prospective university. If one of your priorities is extracurricular opportunities, for example, a standard ranking is unlikely to include this as one of the chosen criteria."

In other words, we are stronger in some areas...but they are stronger in others. It's simply no gauge of who's better. It's just about who's better in WHAT. Now for the wake-up call:

For educated people, are we not supposed to take all considerations in context, and look beyond the major statistic? Are we not contradicting ourselves when we unabashedly proclaim that 2 is more than 3 in this case...when they can easily throw the logic back at us with all the categorized statistics here (which disappointed me a lot! ADMU's is easily more attractive to foreign students when broken down!)

I just find it very unbecoming that in our haste to retaliate (and to what? To "Wrong Spelling" and "Suspended"?), we grabbed the first thing that had our name on it without double-checking if the credit is solely ours. In our attempt to put them down, we have just managed to bring attention to our weaknesses! I'm proud of my school, of my Lasallian heritage, and of today's win, but WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT.

And for a community who wants to break free from stereotyping, aren't we doing the exact same thing to the Ateneo boys we mentioned, like LA Tenorio, Ford Arao, etc., in undermining their intellectual ability? Ateneo has been known to kick players out of the team due to academic deficiencies, to provide one-on-one tutoring and to NOT give special treatment to student athletes. I know this because my best friend was a professor to a number of student-athletes. Unfortunately for us, credibility in this area is on the Ateneo's side.

Bottom line? The "prized" statistic we emblazoned on that banner is nowhere near objective, simply because it was created to be SUBJECTIVE. It is not even "timeless" like we claim! Please, my dear La Salle brothers, let us be vigilant about what we put out there. Because in the same way that we speak about our preference to La Salle, to some, Ateneo is on top. Let us respect that. Both are good universities that make the country proud. Let us leave it at that.

First of all, I would like to congratulate DLSU for winning.

I cried. Yeah, funny, I know. I didn't just cry, I cried like a baby for around 30mins or so. I don't know why I did. I just felt like it. My mom thought that I have lost it.

We lost and it really hit me hard. I know it was just basketball but still, I don't know, I kinda meant a lot for me I guess.

I know that basketball games do not determine the quality of the school, neither can it say something about the school's students, but right now, I feel that it can.

I am still depressed right now. I feel like I'm in deep shit and I think that that loss just added to what I have been feeling (ever since July 07). I feel like I'm the worst person ever. I have been avoiding people. I have been crying a lot alone. I don't want to see my barkada. I don't want to talk to them. As much as possible, I don't want people talking to me since they might ask questions that would probably make me wish I would vanish.

You see, whenever I am with my friends, they would always gang up on me since I am the only one who went to Ateneo. Although I just laugh at them, truth is I am affected. If people gang up on you every time you meet, I think it would somehow affect you too. That is why right now I want to prove something to myself first. Maybe when that time happens, I would finally be able to face people.

I am such a DRAMA QUEEN. I know. That's just how it is.

Anyway... enough of the drama.

From September 17-22, I have been “enjoying” my hard earned moola.

Monday: I treated my friend in Bacolod Chicken and I also got to buy the Korean movies and series that I wanted.

Wednesday: I went to the derma with my mom and my aunts. I had my usual treatment. I also bought my meds.
Side story: We passed by Rajo Laurel’s store before going to the derma. While my mom and I were reading magazines in the waiting area, the owner passed by us. He gave a second look then said “pretty.” Oooh… flattering! Sharing! Hahaha…

Thursday: I bought a pair of crocs mary janes in grape. I fell in love with the color plus I really wanted to get that style. I’m loving them! No actual photo though coz they are quite dirty at the moment since it has been raining lately.

Friday: After having lunch in Bubble Tea with my officemates, I passed by Adidas to check on the Ateneo Apparel. I was able to get a jacket that fit perfectly!

Saturday: I went to Greenhills with my mom. She decided to buy my iPod from me so I bought a new one. I got an 8gb iPod nano in blue. I decided to purchase a small one coz I realized I won’t be needing an iPod with a huge capacity since I am going to get a laptop anyway. I am currently putting my songs and videos in it. I can now easily share the videos that I have edited. The cover flow feature is really cool! I am now organizing all the songs that I put so that it would look good in cover flow.

My Saturday started out pretty normal. I was not able to go to the derma though. Well… I was supposed to go to a party that night. Kwey and Denise planned this triple birthday bash for Joph, Macoy, and their friend Bim. I actually helped them look for a place. I also designed their magazine cover Birthday card. The thing is one horrible thing happened before I was about to go to the party.

There is this block rosary thing in our village. Well it was scheduled to leave our house last Saturday. We did not know that A LOT of our neighbors would come to our house to get it coz when it came to our house, there were only three people who came and we prepared a lot of food. Anyway, they all came 15 minutes before 8pm, almost dinner time. I was still in the bathroom, taking a bath, when I heard our doorbell ring. They all entered out house immediately. I could not go to my room to dress up coz they will all see me virtually naked! My helper and I had this long discussion on what to do. Finally, she figured that she would just get me some clothes. So I went out the shower wearing a pink collared shirt and short brown shorts. My hair was very wet. BASANG SISIW look. They were all staring at me! I casually went down and lead the farewell prayer for Mary. After that, they told me at I had to bring the Statue to the next house. I called my helper and then this sungit lady said “ikaw dapat ang magdadala nyan.” Fine ok if that’s what you want! My gosh! Thanx for being super sungit and angas! You didn’t even realize that you guys came at a very bad time in the first place. I was freakin’ taking a bath and you guys come intruding my private space! And you guys even have the guts to be super angas! Damn! Not yet done though. We went to the next house and all the lights were closed. They still insisted on ringing the doorbell. The helper was the only one in the house so one of them led the prayer. After the prayer, they had the guts to make cruel remarks such as:

Kawawa naman si Mama Mary, wala na nga tao sa pinanggalingan, wala pag tao sa pinuntahan. (Uh… the statue came from my house. I’m a homeowner. Hindi ako tao?)

Last week nga birthday nya eh ni hindi man lang sha nadasalan. Sana sa bahay ko na lang! (Um… ok… so sana hindi nyo na nililipat ng house diba? Augh!!!)

And they said those in front of me!!! Hay nako.. That’s why I don’t go out of the house eh… Anyway enough said….

So there... I ran towards my house, ate dinner, then thought on whether I would go to the party or not. My mom kept on telling me to go. Actually, she was almost driving me out of the house. But then due to the earlier incident plus Ateneo lost to NU plus my gigantic issues with myself, I decided not to go. Anyway, Happy Birthday to Joph and Macoy!!! And Timmy! And Bim na din ;)

I have been a fan of SonyEricsson for... well... since they merged i guess...

I love taking pictures and their camera phones really impress me. The quality of the pictures is really high. Just like Sony cams i guess.. hehehe

I am pretty content with my K800i. It has a 3.2mp camera with xenon flash and is 3g capable. Nokia has released n95 which has a 5mp cam. With that, I have waited for sonyericsson to make a 5mp cybershot phone. Well the long wait is over...

I just checked sonyericsson's site a few minutes ago and a certain phone design intrigued me. It was the K850. So I clicked on it. I read the description and saw that it had a 5mp camera. And then read on. And then went back up and saw it again "5mp" since it did not seem to register the 1st time. 5mp sonyericsson phone?! great!!!

It comes in 2 colors! Luminous Green and Velvet Blue.
It is HSDPA capable and supports both m2 and micro sd cards!!!

It was a very exciting game. Ateneo was the first to score but then two of its prices players were fouled so they were taken out of the game. La Salle then had an advantage. They scored a lot. There was even a point wherein La Salle was 11 points ahead of Ateneo. But then Ateneo came back at them.

During the last minute, Ateneo was behind La Salle by 1 point. Chris Tiu then made a 3-point-shot.
This gave Ateneo a 2 point lead. La Salle struggled in the last few seconds. La Salle's Maierhofer made a 2-point-shot. He thought they were tied and that they would still play for overtime. Too bad the video cleared it. He let go of the ball too late. Time ran out so .....

I waited for Apple's September keynote address and this is what Mr. Jobs presented

The NEW iPod family. The only iPod that did not have a facelift is the shuffle. There is also a new member of the family, iPod Touch.

Personally, I am attracted to the iPod nano (now with video) and the iPod touch.

I love the nano's size and the fact that it now has the capability to play videos. It comes in 4gb and 8gb.What I like about the iPod touch is its design. It's an iPhone without the cellular phone capability and the camera. This iPod can surf the net. It has a built-in wifi and it has safari installed in it. It comes in 8gb and 16gb.

These are the new colors of shuffle.

The regular iPod now known as the iPod "Classic." It still comes in black and white. It has a full metal design and can now store as much as 160gb!
Apple's (product) red line now includes shuffle. It not bloody red anymore. It sorta looks maroonish. Every purchase of a (product) red item would give a donation to the global fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

Apple also lowered the iPhone's price. It is now $200 cheaper than its first release. A lot of people with iPhones complained so Steve Jobs is giving those who already have an iPhone a $100 rebate. Read his open letter.

Another eye candy in the new all-in-wonderful iMac. It is thinner than the old one. Even the keyboard lost weight! Minimal wires. No clutter.

Now this is something I have been waiting for for the longest time. No announcement yet on the exact date of the release of OS X Leopard. It has a lot of promising features. The dock has been redesigned. The finder is easier to use since it is similar to iTunes. It is also easier to preview files with the addition of Quicklook. Can't wait for its release. Hopefully Apple would have this out by October, just in time for my birthday. :)

yeah... right now i am so frustrated! after almost a year i have only done 1 project... how lame can i get? what's wrong with me? so close yet so far... do i look like im in the middle of age groups? is there something wrong with my face? my teeth perhaps? or my nose? or my cheeks? is it my height? do i lack confidence?

Playing Hookie

As I have said, I haven't been myself lately. I needed a break. Something that would somehow cheer me up.

Last Friday, I did not go to work (just like last tuesday and wednesday). I went with my mom, cousin, and aunts to Pampanga. They wanted to go Duty Free hopping. I just wanted to get away from the city.

We arrived in Pampanga way too early so we decided to have some morning snacks at Holiday Inn Clark. After eating, we went straight to Parkson's, one of the Duty Free shops there. There weren't much stuff anymore. What was also weird was that they had a lot of local items. We still were able to find good stuff though. I scored a Happy Tree Friends (Giggles) messenger bag.

After Parkson's, we ate at Korea House. We had a hard time looking for the resto but it was worth it. Liked their food and house tea.

When our tummies were satisfied, we proceeded to another Duty Free store, Pure Gold. It had lots of cool stuff. I loved the chocolates I found. My mom was already stopping me but I couldn't resist.

One thing I noticed was that the Duty Free outlets were not well maintained. Most of it were already abandoned. I hope the people in Clark would do something about it.

Before going back to Manila, we looked for a store called Susie's. They said that their pansit was good and they weren't kidding. It was really good and their serving was very generous. I also like their kakanin and chocolate cake. Kapampangans really know how to cook scrumptious food. All their items were pretty cheap. You wouldn't think twice in trying their offerings.

Although I was not able to relax, I had fun!

Here’s a little-known fact on the Lago rule. During an ADMU-DLSU game (I think it was in the first round of 1991), the Lago brothers inadvertently spent around 10 secounds on the court together because of some confusion during a substitution. Elmer Lago eventually left the curt, LA Salle went on to win, and Ateneo placed the game under protest.

I went out last Saturday with my mom. She dropped me off the derma first (@ skin101 white plains) since i needed a consultation badly. Found out that MAC was too strong for my skin (well apparently it's not for Asians) so she told me to go for Clinique or Asian brands. I also had a facial since I really needed it. Found out that I should have a facial monthly. She also gave me meds for my face. I actually had fun in the derma coz I learned a lot about taking care of my face! haha VAIN

After that, I wanted to go to Megamall coz I wanted to get something from Mango. There was a mall wide sale (i think) so i thought that i could buy more cute work outfits (this is due to watcing hello miss and witch yoo hee). Well, I did not get to go and splurge coz traffic was HORRIBLE! We decided to go to Eastwood instead. I saw my ex-blockmate Lionel wit his significant other. We chatted a little then my stepdad and I went to the bookstore to browse techie books. After that, my mom and I checked out BAYO and plains & prints. I saw a cute jacket @ BAYO but it was quite expensive. I'll go find one @ SFS instead. If I don't find one then that's wen I'll buy it. Anyway, we went to the face shop after coz I had to buy make-up. I was the only girl at work who does not wear it so there. I got a 2-way powder (the phytogenic thingy), green eye shadow (the one that had a base and a highlight in one) and a green sparkly eyeliner. The girl also gave me some samples. Now I'm addicted to their products. I'm going to buy their make-up remover, red soil foaming facial wash, and clear mascara next! I also want to buy 2 Grendene shoes from the shoe salon. Speaking of which, I bought another pair of Melissa's last week. I bought a pink campana and I love them!!!
I think that shopping is really a therapy for girls. I really enjoyed what I did over the weekend. Looking forward to more shopping days!

I just want to rant.

Every morning, I bring my siblings to school before going to work. We pass in the shortcut so that they won't be late for class. This morning, the traffic enforcer in the Balara-Fairview shortcut was not the usual guy. He was so effing stupid. I don't want to call him such but my gosh he was an a**hole too so what the heck. I am a rule-cum-traffic-enforcer follower so I was following him. I stopped when he signaled stop even if we were already there for 20 mins. I was still patient. What was pissing me off was that the cars on my left and my right were not stopping. Imagine the traffic. And the people on my left did not even cue. They were just cutting. So I honked my horn, wanting to get his attention since he was obviously not effective. He got freaking mad at ME! AND he WALKED OUT on his job. I saw him say "bahala kayo sa buhay nyo." Then he went back to his post after a couple of seconds. After that, he went near my car and told me "PORKET NAKAPAG-ARAL KAYO, AYAW NYO NA SUMUNOD!" F*** him. F*** that MMDA officer. He was so below the belt. I was not saying anything to him and he will say that to me?! F*** him. Was it my fault if my parents let me go to school to study? Was it my fault that he did not get educated? So what was his right to say those words to me?! Hay nako talaga Pilipino. When I get the chance to leave this country for good, I will! I have had it. I did not want to give up on this country that I so love but, what the heck! I cannot see improvements. I am trying my best to be a good citizen and to serve others and to, hopefully, influence others but F***!

Pasig Day -- Holiday

I thought I would have more me time today. I planned on watching a Korean movie and an episode of a Korean series. Unfortunately, I had to go to TriNoma to have a check-up at the Medical City. I have been complaining about the lower right of my tummy since May 1. Turns out I got mild UTI. I think it was due to my "kaartehan" with public toilets. Oh well, serves me right.

Anyway, we went there before lunch. We intended to go home before 3 coz of the number coding scheme but then the doctor came in at 2pm so we had to stay at TriNoma until 7pm. We went around the mall, looked at shoes and ate merienda. We went to the top floor to see the new food stalls. I was hoping that Max Brenner was open but tough luck. We decided to have some Cold Rock instead. I found a yummy combination! Strawberry yogurt with cookie dough or fudge brownies. YUMMY!!!
After eating, I went to Bench FIX to have my hair fixed. I had a haircut yesterday at Profiles Katipunan together with my mom and both our hair were destroyed. Grrrr..... I like the stylists in FIX better. They are very knowledgeable in the styling business. hehehe.. I sooo like my hair now. I thanked the stylist a couple of times coz he was able to fix my weird haircut.

We went to my grandma's house at west ave to pick up something before finally going home. After writing this entry, I'll watch my Korean stuff. hehehe...

Working Girl

I have not blogged for a very long time. I have been very busy with work and have already been complaining that I do not have time for myself anymore. I wake up at 5am, bring my siblings to school, get to work before 9am, get off work by 6-6:30pm, get home by 7:30-8pm. Whenever I get home, I feel so tired and exhausted. I'm not really complaining though since I enjoy what I'm doing (what?! contradicting ah). I have fun conceptualizing, researching and photoshopping. I'm am also learning a lot about the so-called real world.

Just want to share. Last week, I went to Yeng Constantino's concert at Aliw theater. Scored a seat at the VIP. It was so-so. Wala lang... Sharing lang.

This week, everyone at work became so busy because the big bosses came. They arrived last Wednesday. We had a company dinner at Song-Do EL Pueblo (I work in a Korean Company). We walked from Belvedere Tower (San Miguel Ave. near UAP) to El Pueblo! The pollution was terrible.

It is common knowledge that Koreans love to eat and drink. I was still shocked since they drank even before eating! Chairman also did his usual rounds so all of us were not spared from having a shot of soju. They will get offended if you don't drink what they pour for you. So I had to drink one shot. And that one shot got me so drunk, I was not able to eat the main course! I did not know that soju was deadly. I drank more than 10 glasses of water and tea. What an experience! Next time, I'll make sure i drink it after the main course.

After the dinner, we went back to the office to use the restroom (bladder malfunction). My QC officemates rode with me.

We passed in EDSA and o and behold, 2 MMDA officers were flagging me. I stopped and asked what the problem was. They said that I was on the yellow lane. Yeah it was true but they also saw that I was signaling to the left. I was trying to get out of the yellow lane because I did not want to get hassled by the PUVs. It was so obvious that they were just trying t get cash coz when I said that I was going to get my ticket, the officer gave me back my license and told me that I should not stay on the yellow lane next time. Uh... duh!!! So why didn't he give me my ticket? Well, it was because the money will not go to them but the government. They did not have the right to give me a ticket because it was so obvious that it was hard to get out of the yellow lane at once since the cars won't let you cut unless you are aggressive enough. I hate the roads in this country. It is too congested!!!

Anyway, enough of that. I will rest now. I've got the flu.

I can finally have more me time. It's a holiday on Monday in the city of Pasig. woopee!!!!!

Brain malfunctioning.....

I have been working for a week now and so far so good. The people are fun and I get to do what I want. At first I thought that it would be a drag. I never knew marketing would be really fun! I'm really looking forward to July. I want to go to the beach! I love it! I get to work and get a tan at the same time (hopefully). I really like the idea of being able to travel for FREE.

Anyway, I spent my weekend bonding with HEPS. Last Friday after work, we went to the Fort not knowing what we would do there. Bianca and I were hungry so we decided to look for a restaurant to eat in. We walked all the way from Serendra to Bonifacio High Street. We ended up eating in Texas Roadhouse Grill. Bianca and I shared since we don't really eat that much. We had their chicken salad and their tuna belly (i think). I'd give a two-thumbs-up for their food. We also ate dessert. It was ok. Normal Vanilla Ice cream with Fruits. I forgot what their food was called. Faith arrived right after we finished our food. I soooo missed Faith!

Pauie, Mia, Macy, Sergio, Luigi, JR, and I went to Tagaytay last Sunday to take advantage of the Holiday. Faith and Tommy followed Monday morning. I missed Pauie's place in Tagaytay. Hehehehe. We had so many memories there. Our weekend stay just added more memories. LOVE IT!

Job Found

Yes. I started working yesterday in Ortigas. I'm working at Euro Asia & Group Philippine Holdings LTD INC, a company that is still in its first few stages of expanding. The salary is not big, in fact some say that it is really just a bit but what the heck, I have to start somewhere. I think it's better than not earning anything at all. I was not the greatest student so i guess I don't really deserve a huge salary right now. I still have to prove my worth.

I guess in a way, the job found me. I did not apply for it. They contacted me last Monday. I went for an interview Tuesday. They accepted me. I accepted the job Wednesday. I started working yesterday, Friday.

I know I wanted to be in Media, Advertising, or broadcasting but then I had to wake up from my dream and accept reality. Going into that field would be hard for me. There are a lot of better ones out there.

I should like what I'm doing coz how the hell would I stay in something that I don't like right? What made me decide was the beach development thing. I LOVE to go to the beach! Another thing was the Korean owners of the company. We are literally going to do the stuff I watch in Koreanovelas. We have to bow when we see the chairman and the president. We also have to go out with all the staff when they say so. It's their treat anyway. I had no idea that the forced drinking after work was real! Another thing that made me accept was the position they gave me. I am a Marketing Assistant. Sounds good. hehehe

I'll see if I can like this job. hmmm.... How long will I stay?

I saw an ad in jobstreet. An advertising agency from the US is setting up their own here in the Philippines. In Mandaluyong to be exact. They are looking for management trainees and the salary is 5k more than mine. Should I apply now? Or should I apply after a month or 2?

the Triangle North of Manila

A.K.A. trinoma... That's the new Ayala mall located in north EDSA. It is right in front of SM North EDSA. The other end of the MRT stops in front of it bringing the mall foot traffic.

We were so excited to go there (Poj, my mom, and me). We went there yesterday. It was raining and there was heavy traffic but it was ok.

They said that the parking lot can handle 8000 vehicles but I guess not all are functioning yet because we had a hard time parking.

The mall was huge and complete! All the major stores that you would wish to be in a mall were there. There was toys r us, comic alley, zara, mango, nike, nike women, crocs, all flip flops, quiksilver, nothing but water, gozum, cinderella, national bookstore, princess club, hobbes and landes, people r people, the t-shirt project and a lot more! not all are open though. I think only about 15% of the mall's tenants are functioning. The mall seemed dark. I guess it was because the lights were covered with colored plastic things or maybe because not all the stores are open.

The mall looked like glorietta in the inside. It also had an activity center. There was a set-up of Strawberry Shortcake yesterday. cute!

The major fastfoods such as Mcdo, KFC, and Jollibee were not to be missed. We ate in Jollibee. I like the Jollibee there coz it had a modern look. There were also sofas, just like the ones in coffee shops.
I liked the plaza the best! It was sort of outdoors and it had beautiful greenery. hehehe.. loved it! The food stalls were located there. There was Dencio's, Gerry's, Crustacia, and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
We live in the QC area and therefore we travel far just to get to Galleria, Megamall, Glorietta, Greenbelt, or the Fort. Ayala did a great job building this mall. We do not have to travel far anymore. The shops that we frequent in serendra (crocs & all flip flops) are there. I hope there would be an outlet of Sonja's cupcakes though. hehehe..

I think the mall caters to classes A, B, and C, although there would still be the D & E crowd since it is located in north EDSA after all.

anyway...

We bought jibbitz yesterday in crocs. At first, I really did not like crocs since they looked weird. I also thought that they would prevent your feet from breathing. After trying them, I changed my mind. they were soft and super light!I now have 2 pairs (1 prima and 1 kids cayman). I would really love to get a mary jane though... after that i'll stop and resume collecting havies.. hehehe... The jibbitz, I think, is cros' selling point. I bought a kids cayman because I wanted to put cute jibbitz!

Job Hunting

Whenever I am in front of the computer these past few days, I could not help but go to different sites posting Job opportunities here or in Canada. My beach yearnings have faded. It has been raining every now and then so all I do is worry about me and my future.

A lot of my friends already have work. Some have started and some are just about to start. One thing is for sure though, they already know what to do with their lives. Me, I am still undecided. I have signed up in JobStreet, JobQuest, Trabaho, and BestJobs. They have so many listed Job openings in different companies but I only get to apply for a couple. It's either I have no idea what the company is or the job just does not suit me.

I have also gone to company websites and sent them my resume, hoping they would have an opening that would suit me and eventually call me.

If I only knew that it would be this hard, I would have started looking for a job even before I graduated.

Before, I limited myself to production work, searching for vacancies in television networks and production houses. Now, I realized that I should not limit myself to those. I am not that limited. I have knowledge in marketing, computer hardware and software, and events. So I have broadened my search. But still, no call. I have been job hunting for 2 weeks now. I am hoping and praying that someone would call, text, or email me for a job interview schedule.

I hope I would be able to get a job soon. I am so eager to work right now.

anyway.. i went to the beach last may 1-3 with meganjmel.. we went to grande island.. the website was uber nice so i guess we expected too much.. it did not look as good as the pictures.. but still we had fun! went on the banana boat and fell on the jellyfishies!!! Subic is really notorious for the jellyfishies in their salty ocean water.. hehehehe

megan, mel, and i also went sunbathing under the skin-cancerous noon sun.. hindi naman palagi eh.. minsan lang.. hehehe.. heard passers-by talking about us.. they were saying stuff such as "ang PUTI PUTI kasi nila eh" and "bakit sila ganyan? nagpapakamatay sila umitim?" Uh hello, tahimik sa beach, we can hear you guys you know? hehehe.. and OA hindi naman kami nagpapakamatay para mangitim, sayang lang ang beach if we don't go sunbathing.. wala na nga agad ung sunburned effect eh.. hahaha!!!

The buffet was ok.. loved the dinner buffet best! BBQ!!! the Php4400 each was so worth it! It came with a lot of free stuff. Got coupons of all sorts!

After our Grande Island adventure, we headed back to Subic main. While waiting for Mel's driver, Megan and I walked around Subic and took pictures. Never knew there were monuments of sorts there.

We then ate lunch in Jollibee and headed to Ocean Adventure. The 4 of us were to go in. Mel was the one talking to the ticket girl.

And then I realized how stupid I was. It was not an R18 movie wherein I won't be permitted to go in if I were not 18 or above, there was a discount for people 17 and below!!! I guess I'm just really honest. hahaha!!!

We watched the sea lion show, went around the mini zoo, then watched the false killer whale and dolphin show. Cute!!!

After that, we ate in Megan's house in Pampanga. Authentic Pampanga SISIG!!! LOVE IT! Parang Aysee.. hehehe

As soon as I got home, I packed my things because we left for Baguio the next day. Stayed in Microtel (again). Love Baguio! It was sooo cold. We arrived 8pm. Ate dinner at session road. We slept after coz we had to wake up early the next day. We only had 1 whole day to tour Baguio! It felt like extra challenge! We went to Mines View, Good Shepherd, Wright Park, The Mansion, John Hay, Burnham Park, Wagwagan, then dinner at Forest House. Whew!

As soon as I got back to Manila, reality came rushing into my face. I NEED TO FIND A DECENT JOB! not a temporary job wherein I would earn a lot without reaching my dreams, without growth. I want a job that I would enjoy! May ganun ba? I tried going to my call center interviews and tests. Yeah I passed and all but I don't think I'd work in such an environment. Not my dream job. But what IS my dream job? I don't really know.

I was checking out multiply the other day. Meg posted pictures of her last hours with Denic. I was like, WHAT? And Meg wrote in her post that Denic was going to be a pilot for Cebu Pacific. Yeah he studied Comtech but his ultimate dream was to become a pilot and he is going to live it. And then I thought about my dreams. I remembered my 3rd grade guidance test wherein I wrote that I wanted to be a Flight Attendant and travel the world. But I am too short for that so I can't pursue it. My other childhood dream was to be an actress/host/newscaster/model. But I have also accepted the fact that I can only act and pose in front of my mom's bathroom mirror and my own camera. I am no actress/host/newscaster/model material! Those two dreams will just be... DREAMS.....

What do I want to be? Mababaw as it may sound, I want to try being a barista. Kahit one day lang. *Starbucks, can you hear me?* hahaha!!! But I really want to be in production. Editing, directing, camera-ing (wahahaha! watta word)... PRODUCTION! know there is not much money in production and too much work is involved but I find it fun and fulfilling especially when you see people flocking just to see what you made.

Ay basta I NEED A JOB SOON!!!

Well.. basically.. il put things that happened to me the past 2 weeks in this post so...

Holy Week:
We went to Cavite to relax. We stayed in Microtel (for free) and went swimming in Eagle Ridge. Loved their pool. We also went fishing. And... Good Friday, had dinner in Sonya's Garden since Eagle Ridge was closed. We then stopped over at Leslie's for lunch on our way back to Manila.

We wanted to stay home but then my sick grandfather and needed a nebulizer so we rushed to their house. On our way, we met an accident. I have been driving for 4 years and it was my 1st time to get into a serious accident. Good thing we had our seatbelts on or else we would have been covered in blood. I did not panic (yeah shocking!). I immediately called my uncle for help. Then I dialed 117 to report what happened. The police came shortly after I made the call. WOW! I really did not expect them to respond fast. Guys, beware of U-turn slots and jeepneys and always wear your seatbelts!

My mom did not get mad at me since she knew that I always follow rules. She knew it was not my fault. Thanks ma! Anyway, we delivered the nebulizer after the incident.

Tuesday night:
Got a text from my aunt informing me that my granpa just passed away. He was able to use the nebulizer but I guess he was really too tired. It was time for him to rest. We rushed to their place to help them in taking care of stuff.

Thursday:
We went to the wake for the 1st time. My dad and my uncle (my 'acting' father) made up. They were like best friends again. Which is really cool!

Saturday:
After the necro(which i filmed), we decided to drink and play cards. I got a bit drunk and I lost 50 pesos in our card game.. hehehe.. An 8 year old kid (Toni, my 2nd cousin) beat us all! Hustler!
Yesterday:
I went out. We were supposed to hang out as a barkada (heps only) but then my friend's friends was about to leave so we ended up in Marina. I got pissed coz I did notreally know most of the people and I had absolutely NO IDEA on everything they talked about. I was so out of place! I really hated the feeling. And one of my friends assured me that we would go and have coffee after but then it was already 12:30am and they still drinking and chatting! I am not really fond of beer so I did not drink. I was not really in the mood. And I hated the feeling of being out of place. I was just so pissed!!! So... I walked out. I went straight home. I did not get my coffee fix. And my friend/s got mad at me (I think). I did not like the way I acted. I was so cranky. I was like a brat. But then, if you were on my shoes, i think you might do the same thing. It was not about not getting my coffee and Kopi bun, it was about being out of place. I acted that way coz I was so lost. But i guess they did not get it. So guys, if you get to read this, sorry. I just hate the feeling of being OP. It's been an issue to me since I was in high school. I really have to let it go!!!!!

Anyway, there is a new dessert place in Katipunan called Banapple. They offer delish desserts at very affordable prices. It's just across Kopi Roti. Parking is a problem though. I liked their Banoffee pie, blueberry cheesecake, apple crumble, and strawberry chessecake. ;)

I love taking pictures. I've been trying to learn photography with the help of my cousin, Marco Abesamis. I just want to share this picture. I have been trying to take a picture wherein lights trail and I am quite satisfied with this one.

My next post should be a beach trip post.. I am dying to go to a beach!!!

4 years ago, I just finished high school. I was not sure where to go. Was I to choose the color green or the color blue. After the days of thinking, I finally decided that I would go and enroll in THE ATENEO. Well, it was nearer our place, that was why. My brother also studies there. It would save us a lot of money if I were to go there. We were able to save school bus expenses. That was important since we are not rich. So, I ended up studying in Ateneo, although studying in La Salle would result to finishing earlier.

Now, our 4-year stay in the Ateneo has finally ended. No more fear of getting an F. No more cramming for a project or an exam. No more nerve-wracking orals. No more memorization of formulae. No more hanging out in Macci or SOM Mall. No more researching in the lib. No more long lines in the xerox machines. No more hanging out in 11F. No more ranting and raving on teachers and subjects. NADA! We are done with college. It feels like the 4-years have gone by faster than I expected.

It was a very colorful journey. There were a lot of ups and downs. Yeah very cliche but then it's true. We had a few squabbles along the way but they are all forgotten now. In the end, I have made a lot of friends in the Ateneo. I could not have made it without them. I was ready to give up anytime if it weren't for their words of encouragement.

...the terror and anger that I felt due to Theo 151. Yes, that was Ms. Tessa Rosana's class. I thought I was going to fail that. I worked my butt off just for that subject. At that time, I felt like I was majoring in Theology and not in Management.

...the fun I had in my Philosophy classes, especially in philo 103 and 104. My teachers, Hermida and Miroy, really made philosophy very insightful and fun.

...philo 101 and 102. I would never forget Mark Lawrence Cruz. He was the first teacher in school that I talked to, while crying, because I THOUGHT I would fail his class. And of course Mr. Soh, my Malaysian teacher.

...the time when I went to UP to sell monay, lumpia, and other fried food. I loved the experience and I got to learn more about life.

...Father Pat Giordano's class. He is as cute as a teddy bear!!! He loved talking about Gawad Kalinga. He loved joking around (F baby, F!) but he was serious about the issues in the Philippines although he is American.

...my theo group mates and how our immersion in Bataan bonded us.

...CTK wherein I learned that you could get mad at a friend and still stay friends. Being friends is different from being professional. "Business is business" is not just a saying. It can happen in real life.

...my Visual Thinking class with Mr Randy Solis. The dream project was really fun. I got to do something that I have always wanted to do. But.... the creative journal was a pain!!!!

...our Comm Concert dubbed "Flashback"

...our Western History Medieval Fair where we got to ware cute Medieval dresses.

...our Statistics class with Dr. Khanser. INSANITY

...our Accounting and Finance exams. 6-9pm!!!

...my first D (1st year 1st sem) in Dr. Quimpo's Algebra class. He made algebra harder than anything else.

...my first A (1st year 1st sem) in my Chemistry Lab class. (though I forgot the teacher)

...my D in PE Volleyball!!!

...my Buffy class with Andrew Ty. A Baby!!!

... my film classes with Father Nic Cruz, Mr. MTRCB.

...my production classes with my favorite Ms. Chichi Robles.

I can truly and whole-heartedly say that I have learned a lot from the school I chose. Although I was not a dean's lister, I knew that I enjoyed my stay and I have learned the most valuable lessons a student had to learn. Your grade is not an accurate measure of how much you have learned. It is only you who would know how much you have really learned in the process.

I loved what Father Nebres said (quoting a scholar) "armed with an Ateneo diploma, who needs super powers?"

I have one of the best super powers a person could ever have... a college degree!

Yes, my dad came to my graduation. So everyone was there. My mom, dad, tito, sister, and brother. Wow!

Papa, Pauline, Poj and I went to Burgoo Tomas Morato to eat dinner. 20% discount baby! hahaha.. I saw a lot of Ateneans there including Megan, Mel,and Anj. It was probably because of our 20% discount coupons. hahaha!

Yesterday, April 1, We had lunch with the Abesamis people in ~~Crab~~ Claw Daddy's in Shangri-la. Great Food!!! I love seafood so the king and queen samplers were to die for. Their baby back ribs were good too! And I drank their homemade vanilla cream soda. Yumm!!! After lunch we went around the mall. I bought a little Phoebe Bratz figure. hehe.. (college graduate?) Then we ate in C2 for merienda. Their service was horrendous! But the food was delish! headed home afterwards since we had to hear mass. It's holy week once again. Time to repent and make little sacrifices.
